VEX-PS Information

Introduction

The VEX-PS (Visagrad Exoskeleton Power Suit) is suite developed in the labs of Sturgia-Vadame the research centre of Visagrad. It was developed for the Visagrad Military Forces and is only used by higher up ranks such as Commanders or Captains. The VEX-PS is one of the most ambitious technological endeavours the Sturgia-Vadame labs have ever developed. A single suite costing over 50 million Credits, only a total of 250 suites were developed to full potential.

The suit is specifically designed to enhance the wearer. It makes them faster and stronger then a standard Visagrad Citizen. The suit also improves physiology and Constitution so the wearer will not be affected by foreign bacteria or toxins. The HUD also helps with combat awareness.

Outer Energy Shield (OES)

The Outer Energy Shield, or OES, is the most powerful protection system the VEX-PS utilises. Emitters on the centre of the back and on both outer thighs send out kinetic signals around the body and head. These kinetic signals act like a sonar pulse that constantly detects velocity of all moving objects. When the OES emitters detect an incoming object with lethal velocity the emitters send out a plasma based pulse that either super-heats the incoming object or deflects it on impact. Like all plasma based technology, the emitters need to recharge once the plasma pulse loses it's charge and requires several seconds to recharge.

The Shield Emitters themselves are protected by the Cobolt Alloy plating the main armour is made from. They seamlessly blend in with the the main body and are almost impossible to spot when not sending the plasma pulse. They glow when activating the pulse but this is an optional ascetic factor that can be turned off for stealth. Recent developments from Sturgia-Vadame have produced more efficient variations of the emitters that can replace the existing emitters of any VEX-PS.

The OES also protects the wearer from the generated heat when performing an orbital combat insertion also known as a drop-in. When performing a drop-in, all suit systems are rerouted and dedicated to shield output to maximise survivability. But once the wearer lands, the shields are purged and are powered down for several seconds so they can recharge and all other systems have a chance to power back up. The drop-in isn't used to drop troops into a battle situation directly. They land behind the front lines and then join the front lines once their suits have recharged. The newer variations of the emitters perform this task faster and makes it possible for a direct drop-in to a combat situation.

Cobolt Alloy Plating

The VEX-PS armour plating is composed of Cobolt Alloy, a light but extremely resilient metal that is also found on Personnel Carriers on Visagrad. The plating covers most of the wearer including shoulders, abdomen, chest, legs and most of the head. The suit's design is to protect against powerful but slow moving objects like blunt objects or combat knives. It can also withstand low powered rounds without the assistance of the OES. Cobolt Alloy can also resist a high powered explosion but will still sustain heavy damage and doesn't guarantee wearer survival.

Synthesised Muscle Layer

The layer beneath the Cobolt Alloy Plating is the Synthesised Muscle Mobility Suit. This is the most important layer because without it the wearer could not possible hope to even move within the suit. The SMMS taps into the actual muscles by bonding with the body of the wearer. It injects an enhanceing agent similar to steroids into the nervous system and the blood stream, this pathogen increases the weare's strength, mobility, reflexes and spacial awareness. The SMMS is composed of fibbers that aren't as durable as the Cobolt Alloy but can still withstand small firearms such as pistols and low powered SMG's.

Working with the OES, the SMMS makes a drop-in possible to physically endure. The OES protects the wearer from heat and the impact itself but it's the SMMS that absorbs the g-force and shock of the drop-in and the impact making it endurable to Visagrad Citizen and Human biology. The rest is up to the bravery of the wearer.

Functions and Technology

ARIIA on board A.I

ARIIA is the default on board A.I for the VEX-PS. This A.I is always imagined as a woman due to the female sounding synthetic voice. Although she is the default A.I she still has her own personality and quirks, she can even make friends with her wearer and have full conversations with them. She is often perceived as a sarcastic personality and often points out obvious facts and when she is told to stop she usually obeys but in a slightly mocking manner. ARIIA has several functions that are important to survivability, combat effectiveness and all round efficiency. She is responsible for running the HUD and monitoring the overall condition of the wearer. She allocates power output and keeps systems running. Without ARIIA, it would be like fighting blind.

Grenadier Helmet

The suit's Helmet is an individual piece of equipment. The SMMS layer of the helmet only covers the mouth and nose for safe breathing in zero atmosphere. The helmet is divided into panels that can slide back into itself to reveal the wearers face. On the two main panels are optical cameras that feeds the interior visor that displays the HUD. The HUD provides logistical information, general combat advice, an ammunition count and remaining shield charge. The armoured outer layer is identical to the main body and uses the same Cobolt Alloy. The interior uses an air filtration system that can be used in a number of ways, such as body temperature regulation fit for prolonged exposure to a hot climate. The filtration system also cleans the air it absorbs, removing all foreign bacteria and toxins, it also stores this clean air for use in hard vacuums.

Enhancer Agent

The SMMS injects an agent into the nervous system and blood stream. This agent literally powers up the muscles and ligaments. Without the agent, the wearer could not be able to utilise the Synthetic muscles to full extent, in extension the wearer cannot use the armour effectively in combat situations. The agent makes the suit feel as natural to the wearer as normal clothes leaving them free to move how they see fit. ARIIA is responsible to determine how much agent is needed for a wearer to use the suit. An overdose is highly lethal and in most cases it causes instantaneous death. In very rare cases the unlucky wearer will survive but will be permanently paralysed and all senses are severely impaired.

Healer Gel Administer System

This system administers the substance commonly known as Healer Gel to an injured area of the body. The wearer must provide the Gel manually and then ARIIA administers it to the indicated injury. The Gel speeds up the body's natural healing process and then, once used up, the Gel is naturally passed through either a bowel movement or urination. Healer Gel cannot be used repeatedly and a dose has to be passed before another is injected. If two doses are administered, the wearer can suffer hallucination, become deranged and gain overwhelming insomnia leading to heavy sleep deprivation. An overdose does not kill but the side effects could lead to death if the wearer is not immediately restrained. The side effects will subside once all traces of the Gel has been removed from the body.
